Background on This Information Service


Our Purpose

ANIMA is a multimedia cultural information service for the InterNet. ANIMA provides a forum for artistic expression, critical analysis, educational outreach, experimental projects and research information in the arts.

The focus of this WorldWideWeb node is on the the development of virtual communities for creative collaboration, possibilites of networking as a global cultural information resource, tool for research in art and technology, and the network as a medium for artistic exploration and communication.

The purpose of this node is to research net design and thus is a site for experimentation with online multimedia publishing interface, structure and design. The web is both the subject and medium of dissemination of our work.

What We Are

Welcome to ANIMA. It is an evolutionary process, we are continuosly experimenting, please participate and include yourself in the feedback loop with your own input.

This site began construction on December 15th 1993, it was in beta test from January 1994, and officially went online from March 1, 1994. Currently this site is already composed of several hundred HTML pages and GIF images, and is rapidly growing bigger and deeper. We hope you get an opportunity to explore, as there are many surprises hidden deep in this growing information garden.
